Do you believe it is possible to dream immoral things? Years ago I read in some philosophy class that that it was not possible for one to dream about things that go against their own moral codes. (i.e someone who was an ethical saint would never have a dream about stealing. Someone who was strongly opposed to homosexuality, could not dream about engaging in homosexual behavior and so forth.)

Or is it possible to dream about immoral things because of the mind and body being separate states, but are still able to influence each other? I can not recall having an immoral dream so I can not be sure in regards to the answer to this question.

Yes, one can dream immoral things. Of course, what you interpret those things to mean may not be immoral. There are so many different schools of thought on dream meaning and interpretation that you can pretty much get them to mean anything you want.

Here's an example:

You dream you violently murder a friend. Your friend actually represents an aspect of your own personality. Death represents change. The violent nature suggests a need or desire for immediate and/orextreme change. That you were the one doing the killing could mean you need or want to bring about this change yourself.

See, nothing immoral even though it seemed to be so at first glance.

I think it is possible. Just because you tell yourself it's immoral, doesn't mean it is. You may still have some doubt, no matter how much you believe it, and that little doubt can manifest itself.

If you think homosexuality is wrong, because it's what you believe in, then there may be a part of you that thinks it isn't wrong. Or in this case, there's the theory that you deny that you yourself are a homosexual, so you think it's wrong.

Or how about this? Say, for the sake of argument, that you think that eating jello is wrong. You deny yourself that jello, and then you start dreaming about jello, realizing that you've never had jello, so how can it be wrong. Maybe you have to try it out for yourself before you can think it's wrong. Of course, this can't be said for all things, like pedophilia or murder, but I'm saying you can't deny yourself that which you've never tried, cuz that may be your mind/body telling you it may not be so bad.

I think I got a little off topic, but it makes a little sense.

We certainly can dream immoral things. The book "Another Thought" by OC Tross fully explain this theory.

We might outwardly strive for and project a moral facade, but our physical being has a mind of it's own. As Jimmy Carter once said in a Playboy magazine interview "I have lusted in my heart." We have all lusted in our hearts, at least I know I have. I have never cheated on my wife, but in my dreams wow I've had some wild times.

"I can not recall having an immoral dream "

You've either never been to sleep or you are an egregious liar.
