Sounds like a metaphor to me.

It is absolutely not hyperbole. Where's the exaggeration? You think patience can flutter out the window, so flying is exaggeration?

It would be hyperbole, which is a form of exaggeration used for emphasis or effect. Patience can't literally fly out of a window.

Another example would be : I've told you a million times, I don't like oatmeal!!
