The ability to string a coherent sentence together is regarded in most countries as the absolute minimum requirement for leadership of that country. Only in America could someone like either of the Bushes get elected - neither of them can be relied on to make sense when speaking off the cuff - so how did they get elected?
This has nothing to do with their policies - just their tendency to fall over their own tongues.

Americans 'Vote' for what ever media is the most convenient to there individual circles of social attitudes.

Of coarse, we are reluctant to admit that...it doesn't paint a pretty picture of our 'independent opinions'.....!!

Our eventual president is the one who has the most TV commercials,.. the most news coverage,.. or the most eloquent speech writer during his / her campaign.

According to the opinions expressed on just this forum, there are only liars, cheats, thieves, sex perverts, criminals, and drug addicts elected in any case.

The News medias eventually wind up being slander peddlers , staged pissin platforms , character chopping blocks ,.. or just out rite distortions of any /every imaginable representation that might influence the opinions of the voters surviving the overwhelming boredom of media manipulation.

That's how this guy got in that office...along with a bit of nomber-juggeling, of corse.

I for one, opologize. It is not aparently a very functionl or reliable system at times...but we are all in our own way trying to iron out the awkward or problematical areas as we meet them. American politics are not static.

In your country, you make the best of difficult situations, and so do we, here. What options do we have...any of us... other than to just go 'caottic'..? We deal with the cards we are delt ...thats the best you , or I, or any one else can do.

After receiving a Minute issued by a priggish civil servant, objecting to the ending of a sentence with a preposition and the use of a dangling participle in official documents, Churchill red pencilled in the margin: "This is the sort of pedantry up with which I will not put."

I'm sure you enjoyed parsing sentences and spelling bees too. I was the kid who deliberately got out in the first round so I could sit down and read a good book of my choosing.

I don't know why you're being so critical. Both of them graduated from a highly respected university. They've also had the intelligence to amass more money than you could ever dream of. Obviously they are much more intelligent than you seem to believe. The ability to speak eloquently at all times is not the mark of a true leader. We don't disrespect your leaders so don't disrespect ours.

In my experience, the level of education is so low in this
country and the ability of the average American to speak
in more than two syllables so limited, that Bush must have
sounded like Shakespeare. That good old boy network
can sure rope in a lot of cattle.

We hate feeling inferior, so we "elect" (if you can call 2000 an election) the kind of leaders on the basis of how fun they would be at a barbecue.
We are a bunch of uninformed hicks who have no opinion about anything unless religion or Fox News tells us how to think about it.

I remember years ago when Bush Sr. was President. The Washington Post did a series on Bush's speaches. It wasn't just off-the-cuff either. They were so incoherent and when you read them, you were lost in the meaning behind the words. I think it was intentional.

Americans have 2 policies to the same Issue one is hidden and one for the public and you have to read between the lines to dig what they say. Its black and white mentality.

They were elected because they don't speak with forked tongue, and they care about America and not what other countries think America should or should not do.
