I know there's a sex scene, but what about the last part of the story when she says "the storm was over and everyone was happy" what is that?

I don't know that is controversial now in most circles anyway. I hadn't really thought about it too much. But it certainly would have been controversial when it was written. It is about adultery, and the ending where it implies that the marriage was better because of the adultery would have been controversial. It says, to spice up your marriage have a fling when you feel like it and are bored with your spouse...you'll all be better off in the end.
