yes it does. All champions are in some ways good at defense. Of course defense and offense work hand-in-hand. You still need scorers to score. But if you can stop a team from scoring, we pretty much won the game cos you will have 48 minutes to score one basket. The game may not be as exciting but you are guarantee to win. Look at Phoenix ... they still need to get steals and rebounds to go for fast break. That's defense!

Yes I believe that defense wins championships and offense sells tickets haven't you seen "Love and Basketball". No but really you can have the greatest offense and still lose look at the 2003-2004 Lakers.

its an age old question isnt it....its probably a combination of the two but with defence being the component that stands out the most....
look at the past winners in Detroit and the Spurs...neither team was gifted offensively, but both made you work for your points at the offensive end. in addition, the Heat to a point where also defensive minded, they didnt exactly blow u out with their offence. so id have to say that defence wins u championships. all Championship winning teams have had defensive minded ppl who would shut u down and take ur confidence with it

defensive rebounding is key in getting both stops and getting out on the break...in basketball you have to have a good combination of interior play, meaning rebounding on both boards, blocks and steals are nice but teams cant run if they dont rebound...if not then you are forced into half court sets...which always favors teams with sound defense and offense...teams that always set up can run, but teams that always run cannot always set up for just that reason...you cant win without any offense at all but without defense you lose high scoring games...as evidenced by the Mavs former style of play before a few personnel moves and the coach working on team defense...or an even better example, the way the warriors have played in the last 25 years...lots of offense as evidenced by scoring stats and the number of all stars who once played with the team and went on to be more successful elsewhere...but little team defense...maybe a boring cliche, but true...

I believe that good defense and good offensive execution wins championship(s). In the past you may salute Spurs and Pistons that they got the ring because of their defense but somehow, people overlooked that both of them have a very good offensive execution. They don't attempt that many field goals but they shot a high percentage (aside from Spurs-Pistons NBA finals).

Doesn't Really matter....the Pistons and Spurs won...and they are an extremely good defensive team...but some high scoring teasm like the Suns can possibly win
Dallas has an overall team with both good offense and defense...

i think the defense wins the champioships and not the offense. without a defense the offense would be lost in so many ways. the best offense is a good defense!
