Check out your local electronic and computer stores flyers. Sometimes you can get pretty good system for a very decent price. If you are browsing a lot and very often on the go, buy a laptop with wireless internet card built-in to the system.

$1000 will buy a very decent laptop!
You can get many models between $500-600 that are perfect for photos, internet browsing, email and even some music!
Every year laptops get more features for a smaller price tag, and I suggest going to HP and Dell and see what you like there!
The sites are listed below - Happy Hunting!

If you just want an Internet computer then $1,000 is way too much to spend. Heck, I got a used IBM iSeries for $200 with Windows 98SE and it works great for Internet. I did install Windows2000 on it about 2 weeks ago. It has wireless and is fast and downloads fast. If, you want something new, just get the cheapest Dell, HP, whatever.

Any laptop that has a Pentium D or Intel Core Duo processor will be fine for you.
You I also recommend your laptop to have 1GB of memory (RAM). I recommend an HP notebook, which you can customize yourself on the website before you purchase it.
