Last night, I was stretching for my left split and got really close, like only two inches off the floor. I was pushing myself down as hard as I could. Today, I woke up and was really sore. I tried my split again, but I couldn't go down as far, like six or seven inches away from the ground. Does that mean that when I heal, I won't be as close to my split and have to stretch all over again? Or do I just have to wait until my leg isn't sore, and I can still get to two inches away from the ground?

Of course you are going to have more trouble with your splits if you are sore. You just have to work through it and stretch daily. The more you stretch the easier and faster it will come.
Keep in mind though, once you have it, if you don't still stretch you can easily lose it.
