In the BBC series, "Doctor Who," the Dalek's principle weapon is a charged particle beam (see, "Remembrance of the Daleks,"). The Cybermen, on the other hand, use portable, short-wavelength X-Ray lasers (see "Tomb of the Cybermen"). Both have refined their weaponry over the evolution of the series. Which, in reality, is the deadlier weapon...or would be, if we could build either one?

Because air restricts the range and potency of charged-particle beam weapons more than X ray lasers, I would have to go with Cybermen's X ray laser (I still remember the "Theme of the Cybermen" music, and it goes through my mind every time the word is mentioned). BTW, did you read "The book of the Daleks"? In a later TV series, they were armed with machine guns, for distance. Mechanoids V Daleks was mindblowingly awesome, but cost so much to make that we never got to see them again: just imagine a 3 way battle over the Doctor. Mechanoids V Daleks V Cybermen. Much too much!!! Shame they never had a Dalek V Cybermen battle, they could have done that on a reasonable budget. Did you see the MTV video clip of the Daleks being smashed up by cars, and the Spike Milligan skit where a housewife doing the ironing, says to the Dalek coming through the door "Did you have a nice day, dear?", and the Dalek replies "NO, I EXTERMINATED THEM" and so on?
