i think you gave up too much. ortiz is great and all but i expect sheff to bounce back and have another 100 run 30+ HR 100+ RBI season. jeter is tops in the league at SS and you really lost a lot of value with edgar. you went from jeter to rentaria, thats like going from a A to a C.
and i dont think he will trade dye or wells if big papi is in the deal. then he would be giving too much altho i dont expect dye to have the same season he did last year.

Yeah I'd say it's a mistake. Renteria for Jeter? Not smart. Sheffield is going to start to faulter because he's getting older. You would've been better trying to get Wells instead of Ortiz. Vernon Wells is not one dimensional and will be in the running for MVP this year. Ortiz on the other hand is one dimensional and probably won't do as well as Wells. You really really need help with that outfield. You won't be able to win the league with an outfield like that. Good luck with it.

I would stay with Sheff and Jeter. Big Papi is good but he wont make up for the difference in Jeter and Sheff. Rememeber Sheff will get 100 rbi's+ and 30 homers. papi will get 20 more rbi's and 10 more homers. Jeter will get you steals plus 25 homers. 100 25 90 25 while reteria will get you 100 10 60 10. So your going to lose some rbi's lose in homers and lose in Sb.
Keep your guys

I would back out if you still have time to. Jeter is much better than Renteria. I would watch the free agent market early in the season for outfielders, and look for guys on the last year of their contracts, because they tend to put forth that extra effort.

i would have made him work for more. Renteria isn't that good. I would have made him give me Wells and then i would have picked up tulowitzki or stephen drew. Big Papi alone is pretty good, but you say the guy REALLY wanted jeter, i bet he would have given up more.

I think it could come back to haunt you. Sheffield will have a nice year this year, and Jeter is a top 15 player.
Papi is great, but he is not an all around player. He dosn't steal, and this will bring Jeter up to score close to him.

That's a pretty good trade as it is. Sheff IS your outfield so if he doesn't do this one, offer him Jeter and Hunter for Renteria and Wells.
