I brought my rabbit to the vet twice in the past two weeks. Last week she wasn't eating or drinking so the vet injected an antibiotic and some fluids in her. The vet said that she might not be eating because of her teeth. That day, I fed her baby carrots. The next day she began to eat broccoli and some carrots. A couple days later I noticed that her tail was wet. It was from diarrhea. I thought it would just go away on it's own but two days later it was still there. Last night she was looking very weak so I brought her to the vet again this morning. This time, they filed her teeth and injected more fluids in her. I tried to give her pedialyte and feed her baby food with a suringe. She took some of the pedialyte and baby food but made it more difficult for me than before. Should I be worried about anything right now? Or is it normal for a rabbit to not want something to drink or eat after getting her teeth filed?

The only reason why I fed her the all the fresh vegetables was because she was not eating the pellets.

Is pedialyte really bad for her? I read on a couple websites that a rabbit with diarrhea should drink it.

She is 3 years old. I don't think that is considered old for a rabbit. Hopefully her liver is fine. I have to bring her back to the vet next week.. Maybe I should have the vet do an x-ray.

Yes, you should be worried. A rabbit that isn't eating can mean many things that are wrong, from dental problems to stress, to gas. It's possible that the teeth cut into her tongue or gums and that is causing her pain. In which case, she should be on pain medicine. Our bunny had his molar spurs filed and he was eating and drinking just fine that same afternoon and the vet gave us 7 days of pain meds in case we needed them...we only used them for 3 days.

Why an antiobiotic? What did your vet think that would do for her?I question whether your vet is really "rabbit savvy" and it might be time to find a new vet.

I would continue to help her eat. Maybe make a pellet slurry with the pellets she is used to mixed with some unsweetened baby food. check www.carrotcafe.com for recipes. The greens are fine, but I would cut out the carrots (too sweet) and broccoli (can cause gas) - try romaine, kale, dandelion, parsley. At the site I just listed you'll find OK vegetables. Hold out the hay for her to see if she'll eat that.

This is an excellent article and you might want to print it out and show it to your vet if you can't find one that is really experienced with rabbits. http://fig.cox.miami.edu/Faculty/Dana/ileus.html

I'm going to keep it simple:

1. Quit feeding the vegetables.

2. Give your rabbit plenty of water and pull it off it's feed for 24 hours. The bacteria that causes diahrrea lives/reproces off the food in the stomach so get the food out of the stomach.

3. The pedialyte is OK. It helps restore electrolytes.

4. A rabbit's teeth only need clipped with wire clippers to keep them to their normal length if it has wolf teeth or malocclusion. See the website below regarding what bad rabbit teeth look like:
http://www.mybunny.org/info/dental_problems.htm

5. Be more concerned about it not eating and having diahrrea. Consult the vet about medicines for diahrrea in rabbits such as Neomycin that can be added to the water.

6. Antibiotics should only be needed if there is an infection. Does the rabbit have an infection due to the teeth?

Poor little bunny. He or she is definately sick, and its a cause for concern. Rabbitts should eat pellets designated as rabbit food as primary diet. The diarrhea is simply from the fresh veggies you fed her, which are ok, except when the bunny is already dehydrated, so don't give fresh veggies for now, as having the runs will just make it worse. Rabbits teeth grow continuously (unlike ours, they can be clipped like toenails!) I had a white lopp bunny we called "Ma Ma Toofers" because her bottom teeth grew up and curled like a prehistoric rabbit,. because her bite didn't line up properly and the teeth didn't grind themselves down. So every so often, we simply brought her into the vet who simply clipped the teeth down. Just leave rabbit chow pellets and water. Do NOT give the bunny pedialyte. Good luck!

Even male rabbits have tit nipples. this is extremely uncommon yet even a male rabbit can get mastitis relatively as a woman can. If this has have been given right here approximately the tit could be swollen from primary length and function a white genuine to it as though it form of feels very very virtually like a blister. To me it sounds out of your description that this is the case. if so then it is going to ought to be handled with a around of anti-biotic prescribed with the help of a robust vet.

i'm not sure about teeth filing, but its always a necesity to have fresh hay. Because bunnies have sensitive digestive tracts, too many vegetables can ofset their diet, causing problems. Your best bet is to have fresh hay, because its easing to eat and it clears the digestive system. Fresh water and hay should be left for your bunny. Im sorry i could not be of more help with the teeth filing.
