And why would such a truly bright man make such a stupid statement?

Is it 'cause there's no correlation between intelligence and smartness? (Maybe this is what momma meant when she told me that "stupid is as stupid does" - do ya think?)

As we look back on Bill Clinton's presidency, its defining moment may well be Clinton's rationalization to the grand jury about why he wasn't lying when he said to his top aides that with respect to Monica Lewinsky, "there's nothing going on between us." How can this be? Here's what Clinton told the grand jury :

"It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the--if he--if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not--that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement....Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true."

The distinction between "is" and "was" was seized on by the commentariat when Clinton told Jim Lehrer of PBS right after the Lewinsky story broke, "There is no improper relationship." Chatterbox confesses that at the time he thought all these beltway domes were hyperanalyzing, and in need of a little fresh air. But it turns out they were right: Bill Clinton really is a guy who's willing to think carefully about "what the meaning of the word 'is' is." This is way beyond slick. Perhaps we should start calling him, "Existential Willie."

Oh for crying out loud, get over it.

Dumb girl, powerful guy have relations. Oh my, the commander in chief's Mr. happy still works.

Goodness, that's never happened before...and just how does that affect any ones day to day actions? Its not like she got up and tried to sell the country on how thousands of young Americans deaths is a good thing...

So you hang on to Clinton's indiscretion. Gosh. I'm young and my friends are young also. We think that the only ones complaining STILL are old men who wish they had some hot young chick (certainly hotter than Monica!) or old women who are afraid their old men will try something diffferent with a little hottie, because they refuse to!
For goodness sakes! Life moves forward!
Let it rest!
It's so O L D !!

oh please, is that all you have in the face of bush's miserable failure?

To drag out a small indiscretion of one the most successful President's in recent history.

Just face up to the fact that g.w. bush has ruined this country and history will reveal the full travesty of his miserable Presidency.

We should move on as a country we have a lot of work to do repairing the damage bush has cause this great nation.

Who in the right mind would have admitted to any infidelity, before trying to lie their way out of it ?

Yes...exactly my point......Presidents are also "human being" and suffer the same shortcomings that we all do.

Noting that we all have our "retarded" moments...LOL!!
