If you are having a baby while on base do you have to wait to see the dr that is on base. my cousin said the dr told her he did not want to see her until she is 5 months i don't even think she is having a baby. i would think the dr would want to see you way before that she is only 18.

LIE. my brother is in the army and has 2 kids both under 2. my sister in law started going to the doc at 10 weeks on each pregnancy and at 5 mos we found out the sex. they have to give you a workup (pap smear, blood test) long before 5 mos just to determine that the baby is in the right place not growing in the fallopian tube and you dont have any diseases/infections that put child at risk.
if you are seeking to expose her lie, ask for the name of the doctor and phone # and let her kno u think she is being mistreated and you are going to call him directly and complain. somehow i dont think she will supply the necessary information.

No way would an Army Dr. tell that to a patient. My husband is in the Army and we just found out that I'm 7 weeks pregnant and the Dr. on base wanted to see me right away when I called and told him that I thought I might be but wasn't sure yet. You're supposed to see the Dr. every 4 to 6 weeks when you're pregnant, that's what he told me and this from a doctor who gets paid the same whether you show up or not. He even recomende a nutritionist and a midwife for me to see next week. So either something's going on with your cousin or she has the worst Dr. I've ever heard of and needs to find a new one right away.

I've never heard of this! She should see another Dr. She does know that the army HMO is accepted by Dr's off base too. You're not required to see a naval Dr., or she could just see another Dr on base but if she's not pregnant than there's really no worry no need to see one regularly

Now that's just ridiculous!!! They don't make you wait until you're 5 months. As a matter of fact they tell you to call a prenatal care coordinator as soon as you find out you're pregnant. They will then set up an appointment with a doctor or nurse midwife, which will be probably around 10 weeks or so. I'm an Army wife myself and had three children on base.

Hmmmm..
My hubby is in the Army. I've seen the doctor at the base ever since I was 10 weeks pregnant. I am 32 weeks now. They saw me every 4 weeks and then when I was 28 weeks pregnant they started seeing me every 2 weeks.
I'm not sure what she is talking about. When you are 5 months pregnant you are missing important things. You have to have blood tests and other things done. That doesn't sound right to me.

I'm an army wife and when I was pregnant my first appointment was scheduled for 10 weeks, I've heard of doctors waiting until the end of the first trimester but no way they would wait until five months, that's crazy. And even if he did, all she has to do is call tricare and get a referral to an OBGYN offbase that's in their network, you don't have to have to go to the doctor on base, and I would never wait until five months, especially with her being young, I was 19 when I was pregnant.

I am Active Duty Army and 36 weeks. The moment you have a blood test done and it returns positive they make an OB appointment for you. As for having to see that Dr on base, it is optional for a spouse. But if the spouse chooses to see a civilian doctor, you have to change your tricare medical plan. I hope that helps you!

I am a military wife, and I have never heard of anything like that. However, I have tricare prime and do not use the base doctor.
