'fraid they're just called stretched earlobe piercings. lol
there really is no special name for it, *sometimes* people call them 'gauged' piercings which is a poor use of english at best if you ask me...for some reason teenagers always feel the need to use 'cool' new words for a practice they think they invented that's in fact many hundreds/thousands of years old:
http://wiki.bmezine.com/index.php/Gauging
the 'big round earring things' are named after their shape according to type, as in plugs (which are solid), tunnels/tubes (which are hollow), or whatever (spirals, rings):

mine are 5/8", well my earlobes at least. it's a size where the holes are obviously visible, but aren't big enough to change the overall 'silhouette' of my head which wouldn't suit my face.
you can read more about earlobe stretching on the following page, but the picture is misleading since it shows a bloody dermal punch method which is a very new way of creating a large hole quickly. with this method it will never shrink back though:

for all the people who come to these questions for no other reason to ignore the question, ignore the community rules, and post such informative low-iq gems as 'ewww that's gross', enjoy:

Hi there, i have three piercings in each lobe and i recently started stretching my first holes. I'm up to a six (the smaller the number the bigger the whole) and it hasn't affected either of my other ear piercings as of yet. you'll be fine to start gauging with multiple holes. i even know a guy who has both his first and second holes gauged. don't worry about it. Secondly, start by tapering up to a ten. it's super easy, but do not be afraid to push! It's going to hurt, but you gotta get it through. However don't push too hard and rip it, though going to a 10 there's not much of a chance you'll rip anything. Best option is put your thumbs behind your ear and use your fingers on the other side to push the taper through. First lube the taper up with vaseline! Use bactine to clean the ear while it's healing, and it is best to wait a week or so between sizes.
