I just found out that someone I know is a cutter... that person doesn't want me to tell, but I'm not so sure. What should I do?

Oh boy. I know that she may not want you to tell, but she needs you too tell. She is physically hurting herself, and you are her friend you have to think about her best interests, especially now that she is not taking care of herself.

And do not think that you can take care of her problem for her, because you can't. She needs a professional. Maybe you could talk to a parent that you trust, a teacher or school counselor.

Also, check out this website for more information :

Hopefully that helps!

help the cutter get through whatever he/she is going through. be there for her 24/7. dont judge her or tell her anything about being a cutter. just be there for her, be her friend. she needs you

Talk to your mom or a trusted adult who knows this person. Even if they are not your best friend, you should tell someone so that they can get help. Even if you don't know for sure, be concerned.

hi!

cutting is the result of emotional pain, and the bigger percentage of the time, the result of sexual abuse sometime during childhood.

you can research this on the web by searcing for "self injury" and you will find a lot of information.

it seems as if your friend needs some tender, loving care. if you think it's to an extreme, or she is in danger, talk with her parents? (does she live at home?)

sometimes we humans don't take care of ourselves... your friend is case in point.. a therapist could help her, if she is willing to accept help and to work on her issues.

hugz to you!

If you're a good friend and want what's best for him/her, tell. I know you may lose the friend or lose her trust, but what they're doing is dangerous. And any good friend would NOT let their friend do that. If she/he is having real problems or suicidal thoughts, then she/he does need help. Goodluck hun.

You should tell her parents. This is a secret that shouldn't be kept.
But you should not tell your friends. This is private.
It would be okay to tell the school counselor if you think it's a good idea. And you can talk to your own parents about it.

tell them that you know and how you found out. let them know what they are doing to themselves isn't right. don't make a HUGE deal out of things but don't just let it slide. if you don't do anything something worse could happen.

be a good friend and help out no matter who doesn't want someone to know. this kind of stuff can be serious.
