I, being a Dallas mavericks fan, love the nowitzki. I hate seeing the spurs falling on top of my team. But i still admire Tim Duncan. Is he overrated? (i.e. low stats)

no, Tim may have lower stats, but coaches still cringe when they no they have to devise a defensive game plan against him

Of course not. Tim Duncan is already there among the greatest big men of all time. His having mastered the fundamentals of the game makes him a throw-back from the old school. Low stats? Well, Duncan is all about winning and not statistics, just like another great big man Bill Russell. He simply does all the necessary things to make his team win, and he already has 3 rings to prove it. He can score at will if he wants to, but if Parker and Ginobilli are burning the hoops, he'd be content with passing the ball, setting picks, getting rebounds and playing defense. That's greatness for you.

Nope, although he isnt the best free throw shooter he is a great leader and a very good team player. He has great fundamentals and high basketball IQ which shows with his great post moves, defense, passing out of the double team and even taking his man off the dribble. His game is not flashy and at times can be very boring but you have to give him credit for giving the Spurs three Championships in the past decade and consistently taking them to the playoffs. Hate him or love him he is a franchise player and will make any team in the NBA a great team.

The Spurs have won 3 championships on the shoulders of Tim Duncan. Well in '99 they had Robinson too, but still. '03 & '05 were all Timmy. He is their franchise player, their go to guy, and is one of the best ever. He is not over rated.

I'm confused. You ask who tim duncan is, yet you seem to know a lot about him.

Anyway, I'd take the duncan over the nowitzki any day of the week.

um.. nope.. Tim isn't overrated... he was the main reason why the spurs is what is now... he was able to make spurs a contender.. and won championships rings.... yes, Dirk is good, way too god..
and yes.. he is in the top of the list in mvp voting... this season... but he has yet to win a championship ring.. to be written down in history as one of the best forwards in the NBA..

No way, he is not overrated. He is just a team player and doesn't mind deferring to his teammates, which is why his stats may seem low to you (but his stats are still amazing).
