between "helping with homework" and "giving the answer"?

I'm only asking because it seems most of you have no clue.

If I 'help' you, I am teaching you how to do your homework.
If I 'give you the answer' I am cheating you.

You are right most people give the answer instead of teaching or helping the person learn. Good point made and very well made I might say. :-)

Helping with homework is showing how to get the answer, but not actually giving the answer. Giving the answer is...giving the answer. There's a huge difference.

When helping with homework you are supposed to help the person reach the answer with not actually giving them the answer. So like you give them steps needed to reach the answer. Or you could even use a different problem, show them how you do that one, and see if they can do the one they need help on. Overall you want to give an explanation on how to do it, not to do it for them.

Helping in homework, one shows a person how to get an answer without necessarily giving the answer.

helping with homeworking is being there and showing someone how to come up with the answer so they know how to do it the next time, giving the answer takes no thought process and doesn't involve taking the time to teaching someone how the problem was solved, but just rather told.

helping with homework you dont give the answer to the person you tell them how to do it. i use the same equasion but with difrent numbers when i help a friend. giving the answer teaches nothing. as they say you can give a man a fish and feed him for a day, but if you teach him how to fish he can feed himself for a life time.

lol...wouldn't telling you give you the answer? haha
but anyways..
as long as you explain what you are doing and not just plain out give them the answer i guess...cuz that way you're not really helping them...but sometimes it's also easier to give the answer with the explanation, like with math equations...that way they may be able to better grasp the expalanation
