because we have spineless politicos in DC and they are more interested in yesterdays "days of our lives" episode. It should be "press 1 for english---press 2 for directions back to your pitiful excuse of a counrty....

Well...what an interesting question. We would have to press for one but now we have a second language which is overridding the first language and that would be Spanish. If our country would make it mandatory for everyone in the country to speak English then we wouldnt have to press one for English. And a one for English seems right because English is the number one Language as of now in the Country..lol

you only have to do that in the USA. In Quebec, you press 1 for French, 2 for English, for example.

That's just the way the automatic prompting system is. I've seen some that just prompt for #2 for spanish. Maybe some older systems do not have the ability to bypass the section without a selection.

because even though we live in a country where english is the most spoken language we still feel the need to not interfere with groups "civil rights" and have to bend over backwords to make sure that we give more assitance to people that come here from other countries and refuse to learn the language

you shouldn't have to, should you?
I wrote an essay on my English final exam on why all immigrants should learn to speak English as a requirement for citizenship.
I got 125 pts out of a possible 125.

I hear ya !! That DRIVES ME CRAZY !!
It's everywhere !! On all of those automated attendant systems as well as most ATM's anymore! The ATM's irritate me than anything. If they are earning American dollars and have an American bank account, then they should be able to use English on the ATM.
