foods that have Carbohydrates in them....vegetables, pastas, breads...these foods have energy packed in them. dont forget a banana too...those babies got some energy in them too. but of course u cant just eat a carbo loaded meal and expect to be fully energised. eating healthy the majority of the time will help ur body process these foods and help u with maximum performance.

as far as drinks go...drinks that have kilojoules are good....sports drinks tend to be the best....if there is a drink called Lucosade...then get that...thats got some good stuff in it

Well, whole foods are always good for you. If you still eat eggs (cage-free, I hope!) and dairy, you can count on them for some quick nutrients. They're both dense in protein and fat. Three servings of low-fat dairy and two eggs a day won't cause you any problems (unless you have allergies/sensitivities or something). If you eat that, you're pretty much set. I personally am not a fan of eggs and am trying to cut down on dairy. I eat a lot of legumes and whole grains, and enjoy seeds and nuts. One treat I've been enjoying lately is a spoonful of peanut butter. It's totally not the best snack ever (especially since I use "conventional," which is full of sugar), but it's yummy and keeps me going. If you're eating enough food, chances are that you'll get enough protein. For quick energy, try some fruit. For more long-lasting energy, mix carbs, protein, and fat. Try nut butter or hummus on whole grain crackers or pita. A great book for you is "The Vegetarian Sports Nutrition Guide." It's about nutrition for athletes who don't eat meat. It includes recipes, mini-bios for notable vegetarian athletes (triathletes, football players, etc), information about the nutrients you need and ideas about where to get them, and the evaluated daily food journals for a handful of the athletes.

Food source which can give you a lot of energy is carbohydrate and sugar (White Rice and Pasta are the best). However, if you over-consume them and don't use your body for sports activities it'll raise your sugar level in blood and it becames un-healthy.

Sugar gives you lots of energy. Try fruits like apples and bananas too for those cramps/spasms. For a drink get lots of water into your body or take an energy drink like Powerade or Gatorade.

Pasta and chicken are the best. If you are running a marathon or playing a football game, get Gatorade before (an hour at least) since it will cramp you up when you are playing. Water is best if you are doing anything else though.

basically carbohydrates do. thats why some football players bulk up on spaghetti and pasta.
