The WWE has tried to turn Cena into a heel a couple of times but the fans keep cheering for him.
HBK has done both and is good at both. At this point in his career though I feel he can really only pull of being a face.
I don't think Randy Orton has the charisma to be a face. He did a fairly good job at it when he first left Evolution and took them on. If he eventually ends up feuding with Edge I think he would be the face as Edge has proven he can be a top draw as a heel.
Edge, like Michaels, has done both and did them well. I think he is better as a heel as it really allows his personality to come out.

cena as a face: there is no way he would make it as a heel. people are just drawn to him and would never really boo him. except the ecw audience.
hbk is good as a heel or face. but maybe since he is the reformed hbk, he will probably just stay face.
orton as a heel. he is just so damn sexy when he is trying to be bad.
edge as a face was funny and lke to make people laugh. edge as a heel doesn't give a damn what we say or think about him. so for me it doesn't matter. i like him both ways

John Cena was better as a heel, but I can stand him being face.
HBK is better as a face.
Orton is better as a heel.
Edge is definitely better as a heel.
