Yes, you are correct. 1 is C and 2 is D

1) A salt, in chemistry, is any ionic compound composed of cations (positively charged ions) and anions (negative ions) so that the product is neutral (without a net charge). (from wikipedia).
The primary salt precipitated in a stalagmite is calcium carbonate.

2) Loess is composed of very fine windblown silt derived from glacial grinding of the rocks it moved over (glacial flour)

Well I know 2 is definately C

Well now I'm second guessign myself - Loess is definatley 'windblown', but sand? - dunno.
