Beatles - Stones - Doors - Pink Floyd? Gads! They were (are) all great! And then there were the single artists who shaped the music industry! But this is not about them.
The Rolling Stones - IMHO - One of the greatest bands of all time, but not my personal favorite. Pink Floyd - Incredible! The Doors - One of the finest with John Densmore on drums (a cousin? Maybe or maybe not). Jimmy rocked!
I have to side with The Beatles! They did more to influence music than any other band I can think of! Without them, music (as a whole) would be stuck in the dark ages. They were decades ahead of their time!

It's probably some band in some remote little island in the Pacific or in some 100 person valley in the middle of the Himalayas who just have never been discovered and probably will never be discovered and they're like...crazy modern musical geniuses of the rock genre... who knows...you said "world" didn't you
(if not then I pick The Beatles, since they're possibly the most influential band EVER)
