I had a personal experience in which I put on makeup (either the wrong way or the wrong color) and it made my yellowish/olive skin look brown and dull. Am I paranoid or is this true? Can any of you share some of your experiences please?

You definately either chose the wrong color, didn't properly blend, or put on too much. It is actually a common problem and everyone at one point or another has done it.

There's no "wrong" way to put it on.

It's just the makeup settling/reacting to your skin and changing colour.

It could also be that the makeup has expired, or you're picking the wrong colours/shades. Like paint, liquid makeup dries a different colour than what's in the bottle.

My advice is to find better, fresh, new, makeup that doesn't make your skin look brown and dull - try mineral powder, or something lighter.

I am 1/8 native american 1/8 black 4/8 italian 2/8 sumtin else

So i have very olive skin. You just have to compliment you eyes and stay away from olive greens. You have beautiful skin in which minimal is maximal. Bringing out the rosiness in your cheeks makes you appear more tan and healthy and not drab and dull like you explained.
