Is a ten gallon tank okay for a peacock eel? has anyone out there successfully kept one in a ten gallon? It also has 4 platies in it.
the eel will eat from my hand

Here is some info for you about Peacock Eel:

COMMON NAME:
Peacock Eel
Spot-Finned Spiny Eel

pH:
6.7

WATER TEMP:
78-86 deg. F.

AVG. MAX. SIZE:
11+ inches / 25 cm.

MINIMUM RECOMMENDED TANK SIZE:
Do not place in tanks smaller than 30 gallons, 50+ gallons is preferred.

FEEDING:
Mainly Live Worms (sections not larger than 1 inch). Brine Shrimp & Frozen or Live Blood Worms. Feeds on average of once every three days.

NOTE:
Needs a soft substrate, as they may bury themselves for days on end with only the tips of their snouts protruding.

LIGHTING:
More nocturnal, prefers dusk and dawn, light lighting.

TEMPERAMENT:
Peaceful, very good community fish as long as it is with fish its own size or larger only, anything smaller that resembles a worm may be dinner.

COMMENTS:
Great fun to watch, even better to train to be hand fed. Have been known to choke on a large of a section of live worm or other foods and actually drown in the tank.

These guys are definitely NOT for the beginner! I am not saying you are one, but its just for your info.

umm sorry for asserting this yet 20Gallon tank is the minimum for the black mollys , they are in a position to enhance as much as 3 inches additionally those fishes do like slightly brakish water ( a million teaspoon of aquarium salt according to gallon) in case you should get a 30Gallon tank , it is going to likely be extra advantageous so which you would be able to maintain the water high quality good... additionally verify your betta fish does not chase them, nips them. because of fact mollies are non violent fish which somewhat prefers to stay with a non violent fishes.

They require 30-50 gallon tanks. I know all fish's growth(not sure about eels...) will be stunted if kept in a smaller tank then required. He could live, sure. But his life would be shortened.

Not long term it really wouldn't be as these guys get about a foot long. They really need a 2 foot long tank to be comfortable.

IT DEPENDS ON THE SIZE OF THE EEL BUT YES IT CAN ALTHOUGH IT WOULDNT HAVE MUCH SPACE IT WILL AT LEAST BE COMFTARABLE.
