Well, it seems as if drama is my middle name.
I'm having yet another problem at work.
I recently demoted myself, because I made a couple of mistakes at my previous position, and didn't want to risk making anymore, and being fired. The stress of thinking that I was on my "last leg" was too much to handle, so I demoted myself... The job itself was stressful, repetitive, and I guess it just wasn't a right fit for me. It was going to be awhile before I'd be promoted, and didn't want to be fired before then. The lower position is fine with me, plus, it's the same pay, so who cares, right?
I made the mistake of telling one of my co-workers that I chose to take the lower position on my own, because I was stressed, and had a couple of problems.

I made the mistake of telling one of my co-workers that I chose to take the lower position on my own, because I was stressed, and had a couple of problems.
Well, that co-worker has told every single person that I work with, that I'm too stupid to do anything but what I'm doing now, and that the company told me to either take the demotion or be fired. She said I can't catch on to anything, and am pretty much a dumbell.
I confronted her about this the other night, and while she weasled her way out of it, she said she would definitely stop saying those things about me.
I just found out that she did it AGAIN, and made up even more stuff about me.
What am I going to do? I'm being ridiculued by people that didn't like me in the first place, and laughed at by everyone, because of this woman and her lies.

What can I do? I know it's my fault for telling her, and I feel like a loser. She's pretty much taking away my dignity. I can't even go into work holding my head up high, because I know everyone is laughing at me like I'm some sort of reject. Help? I'm a smart person, I graduated early, with a 4.0, and anyone who really knew me, would know that this woman is LYING...
Help?

Either you ride this out or leave. Personally, I would choose to ride this out. This is not high school - you are an adult and a professional. Act like one. You have a lot to prove to upper management as well as yourself. By focusing on the trivial, like a co-worker's gossip, you take time away from what's important - YOUR JOB. Whether you like it or not, you have show that you can prioritize. By letting your attention wander on such behavior, all you're doing is confirming the gossip. Pull your act together, focus on your work and rebuild your reputation. And as a rule of workplace etiquette, KEEP YOUR PERSONAL BUSINESS TO YOURSELF. As a rule of survival, not everyone at your job is your friend. DISCRETION is a path for success. Good Luck!

here is my suggestion: - next time you may take a unload, possibly you may detect a bathing room this is tucked away slightly - you already know, extra inner maximum. If no such bathing room exists on your place, possibly time table your physique to take a sh*t in the process an strange time while human beings isn't around, like previous due at evening. - genuine when you end pooping, formerly you start to wipe, flush the lavatory. this might make the bathing room scent lots much less. And if none of those issues artwork to alleviate your stress approximately it, then in basic terms grin and bare it so which you may talk. Make a joke approximately it. everybody shits each and on a daily basis so it particularly is a ask your self why human beings make this sort of great deal out of it.

There is a certain policy at majority of Careers called harassment. That is a form of harassment. She can get in really big trouble for doing that. I went through a form of harassment at work too. There was an individual that would always say things about me and told everyone. I took it upon myself and took it to Human Resources. They warned the individual at first and told her that she could get in trouble if she continues. The situation came to a hault. It works, believe me. Especially if you have any witnesses. When you go to Human Resources or whoever your boss is, make sure you write the situation down on paper. Tell your boss that you are going to submit a report regarding this situation for their records. Have them sign it and tell them to give you a copy for your records also. It is the employments responsibility to make sure that everyone is in a good working environment. When the employment knows you have a copy, they will make sure they take action. They do not want a law suit if something happens.
Take it from me, I did everything I'm telling you.

first of you at least had the higher level job why didn't the other one get the offer. Secondly if other people are talking about it be like I dont remember telling you anything about that and even thouhg its non of your bussiness I decided I'd rather have a job I could do in my sleep, get paid the same and not take it home at all. I had a simular thing happen to me and thats what I did. Good luck.

i had a similar problem. a woman did not like me from day 1. i didnt even have the chance to say hi before she decided not to like me. she even tried getting me fired. i talk to the manager about it and told her that it wasnt worth getting harrassed by some lady. the manager talk to her and kinda stopped but i decided to quit anyways. it depends on if you are willing to put up with it. personally i wouldnt. people should not be taken advantage of at work and if you are not willing to have a manager take care of the problem either leave or stay and keep your head up and ignore everyone else. show them that you are better then what they think.

Welcome to corporate! Start elsewhere and consider yourself wiser...It sucks but you have to.
BTW whoever assigned you to that position failed if you did not have experience- unless you lied on your resume.
If you choose to stay plan some good presentations for your Boss's boss. QUIETLY, and then explode with your greatness. If you share your good ideas before they are shown to senior management you haven't learned a thing and I've wasted my time typing this.
YOU PUT YOURSELF DOWN TO A COWORKER?!?!?! What were you thinking? Are you new to corporate?

Confront her again and say it like you mean it. If she continues to batter you like this, go to your boss and talk to him. And please, don't go telling any of your co-workers your business. This happens all of the time. I know from experience, been there, done that quite a few times. Hope this helps!

This aquaintance of yours sounds like a brat and I guarantee you the people who she is talking to about you know she is a brat as well. There is no reason you have to hang your head at all. Go to work do your job, learn from your experiences and move on.

I would start looking for another position with another company. Next time, remember that co-workers are not friends and keep your mouth shut.
