Saddam knew how to deal with the trouble makers too.
When he was in power there wasn't any internal trouble at all. But we didn't approve. Were not likely to approve of the Saudi or Jordanian methods either.
Unless of course we have gotten off our high judgmental horse and have learned to accept the fact that not all the world needs to accept Christianity or democracy to sit at the table.

I doubt that Saudi Arabia and Jordan will pursue that avenue but, if they did, and they didn't wear uniforms, I'm sure that they would be able to get more Iraqi informants to tell them who the insurgents were and where they could be found. Also, I believe they speak the same language. The insurgents have killed far more Iraqis than the Americans have so I don't think they have any qualms about killing fellow Arabs no matter what their nationality.
The obstacles to winning this war are the language barrier and the fact that it is very difficult, if not impossible, to tell who is friend or foe. Using a few infiltraters might work but they would be in danger of being killed by both Americans and Iraqis. Inevitably, I think Iraq will have to fix Iraq.

Disaster!!
Saudi Arabia and Jordan are majority Sunni, Iraq is majority Shia. Iran is majority Shia too. They will be fighting each other to gain the most influence. Iraq will become more stable when we leave and they have to step up to the plate.
Let's face it, it is going to take a strongman in power to keep these two factions at bay. (Just where in the world is there peace between the two)?
There won't be a strongman until the US pulls out. Hopefully we can engineer who that will be without leaving any evidence that we did.
We would not let the government get away with playing rough while we are there or we would be implicated. And playing rough is how Saddam did it.
We cannot put in the strongman openly or we will be responsible for his actions.
Don't ever kid yourself that the middle east wants us to stay out. Bush wanted to stay out of the middle east entirely and was taking an isolationist approach. All the countries in the region were upset that the US was ignoring them. Now they are looking to China as a third party to help in negotiations. China is trying to take a very limited approach and will only address very specific issues.
No, Saudi Arabia and Jordan would be much more difficult for the Iraqis to deal with. Plus the corruption would be immeasurable. We would be expected to pay for the whole thing on top of it.
Call me cut and run if you want but the best we can do is withdraw and try to engineer who we want to take over. Try to set up some autonomy for the Kurds without pissing off Turkey. (Gool luck there).
George picked up a huge sh!t sandwich for us at the buffet line and all Americans are gonna have to help him eat it.

masterjack has the best answer I have seen on this blog, and he is right Saddam knew what it took to control these nuts and he didn't hesitate to do what was necessary, had the u,s, followed his methods which is the standard way of controlling a defeated country, the death toll would have been cut in half at least, for both the Iraqis and the American forces and this B,S, would have been over at least 2 years ago , who the hell ever told G,W,B, that anyone could win a P,C, war, one bomb on one of their
cities would have let them know we are not into playing games with them , then you would have seen a big difference,
there has got to be a strong man in the picture to control these people or this will be going on forever, if the U,S, persist on being P,C, then arrange it where some strong man will be able to take over and lets get the hell out, simple
ALSO PAKISTAN WOULD HAVE HANDED OVER O,B,L, if we had been more aggressive, entho I seriously doubt he had any thing to do with the bombing of the W.T.C. I don't really think he had the brains to commit this crime, just think of allof the other bombings that has taken place in other country's that have been blamed on him, doe's the M,O,S, Match??
