This happened to me for real. I learned that you need three people on an elevator before you can let one...that way no one knows for sure who did it. I just tried to act as if there was nothing wrong...she kept shooting me dirty looks.

I would stand there with absolutely no emotion. If he said something about the stinch, I would simply say, I have been holding my breath for 20 floors now, thank goodness I can get off now.

Say something like whew they must dont clean in here often what is that smell. It is awful your pretty little nose had to smell that.

i'd probably say "hello" then probably then say "i wonder what that smell is, can you smell it?" then he'd probably think it was something else.....or not. realistically, i wouldn't fart in the elevator because i know how to control my bodily functions. ; )
