My guinea pig had a small growth on his rump. I read online that cysts were common but not to worry about them unless they got to be golf ball size-- this was much smaller than that. When I picked him up just now it had ripped open, and this gunky pus was comming out. He isn't acting like he's hurt, but there aren't any vets open now. What can I do in the mean time?

drain it out and cleean it but don't use peroxide as it will eat the good tissue around the infection to. then put some polysporin or other antibiotic creme on it and let it sit until tomorrow morning. switch over to a paper bedding as a shaving can leave slivers in the open wound and cause more infection.

Bathe it gently in salt water, and remove any hay or shavings from your guineas hutch to prevent them entering the wound
