the solenoid is weak. you can take it off the starter and disassemble. inside is a brass washer that gets burned on one side. Take it off and turn it around so the other side makes contact. reassemble, reinstall, problem will be solved.
This is usually caused from low voltage. when the battery is weak it doesn't snap the solenoid closed as fast and causes more burning on the brass washer
good luck

Clean up the connections to engine block and directly at the starter as well. Knock the solenoid on the starter with the handle of a hammer (to loosen rust). You may need a new solenoid --or replace starter. If there is a starter relay in the circuit consider that too. Bottom line: it isn't rocket science.

There are some internal electrical shorts in your starter. After you have tried to start your truck and it has just clicked, carefully feel the positive battery cable, if its hot to the touch then its the starter.

Your started solenoid may need replacing. The contacts in it get pitted after while and make the electrical connection poor when engageing the key.

Check your starter, if it gets hot then most likely you need a new one.

I know exactly because I have the same problems everyday at work. Its your starter, try taking it to autozone or o'reilys or automotive store to get it check...it might be the solenoid or the whole starter itself.
PS its alot of trouble taking it out!

You need a starter - you could go another route and install a solotex - which will boost the current to the starter

Take your battery to auto Zone and get it tested before you go and buy a starter.
