how can i totally clean and repair my computer, keeping my itunes files? my computer is loaded with viruses, non stop pop ups, super slow, freezes a lot, and i was just wondering how i could restart everything and keep my itunes folders because it would be a pain to re-download 2-3k songs...i am VERY computer illiterate too so keep that in mind when explaining the process ;)

Get a jump drive, and put them all on there, or you could burn it to as many disks as you need.

if you have viruses then you need to get rid of them first if possible -- restore wont do you any good because it will still have viruses --- if you feel your itune files are safe from viruses then copy them onto a cd or dvd to back them up ---if your not sure if the itunes files are virus free then you need to scan them with a virus scanner before saving them to cd --songs are easily redownloaded --- if you dont have an antivirus you can download a free 1 from avast il put the link below --- once you download the antivirus i would run a scan right then--- viruses are bad news --- sometimes they are very tough to remove without formatting the hard drive which is another alternative --- once you run a couple of scans i would disconnect the computer from the internet and run a couple more scans with it offline -- i hope this helps good luck ---

There are several options:

CopyPod: With this program you can take the music off of your iPod and import it directly into iTunes and still keep all of your song's tags.

You can use your Ipod as an external hard drive to store your music on. Follow the directions at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61131. After that, copy your Itunes music folder onto the Ipod through my computer. If there is not enough space on your ipod to store a back up of all your music you may need to delete your songs, but don't worry you will be able to copy the songs off the iPod through my computer after you have reformatted your hard drive.

If you are using windows Vista you don't need to worry because all of your files will be stored in a folder called Windows.old after you wipe your computer.

there is more information on backing up your iTunes music at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93063
