What do you all do with your Ipod files after you have downloaded them to your Ipod. I have 5 GB left on my laptop but I dont want to lose all my files (if I erase them off hard drive) when I connect the Ipod to my computer, cuz if I did that I would have an empy Ipod too. What do you all do? Can I make a selection in Itunes to update in a certain manner? Thanks in advance.

I guess what I want to know is if I delete the music and video files from the back end, and not the Itunes Library will all the files on Ipod and Itune always remain?

If you delete from itunes, you will get a pop up window that asks if you want to keep the file in itunes folder or trash it. If you trash it that deletes the file from your hard drive. If you keep it in itunes folder it deletes from the itunes list, but remains on your hard drive in your itunes folder.

The next time you plug in your ipod, click on the ipod icon and choose the option "Manually manage...". Then you can delete your itunes library without emptying your ipod when you plug it in.

I would recommend backing up your itunes folder to CD or DVD before you delete them. I spent a lot of time recovering my itunes library after de-installing a buggy itunes update.
