See...here is the thing, had you done research on ferrets you would know that they do better in pairs. But its OK. I see it all to often. First I recommend you check out some ferret sites to better understand your little fuzz butt. I have been a ferret owner for over ten years and currently own four of the little stinkers (literally) lol. Anyway...here is a good site:

If you really cannot find any room in your budget OR absolutely can't save up the money then your ferret only has you. I assume you either work all day or go to school OR do both? Your ferret is probably alone and borred most of the day. Do you let your ferret run around your bedroom while you are at school or work? Mor importantly is your bedroom ferret proofed?

These are all things you should be thinking about. Your ferrets happiness is important.

Well, ferrets really need LOTS of socialisation... 4 hours a day is ideal. They do sleep a lot but, will adapt to your schedule. They are normally much happier in pairs/groups if you have less time to spend with them. I own a solitary ferret right now as her friend has passed, but I spend lots of time with her and she even sleeps on me from time to time when she gets pooped out. So, if you do not think you can spend lots of time (2-4 hrs daily + cleaning the litter 2X a day), or get a friend for your ferret, you may want to consider a less dependant pet. They can be very loving and loyal pets if you have the time to socialise and play with them.

A ferret will be just fine without a partner. I have one now without a partner. His partner passed away and he has been alone for 2 years now. I do not see a difference. As long as you spend time with your ferret and let him/her have plenty of time outside of the cage everything will be just fine. However I wouldn't get a ferret that has been with a partner for years and separate them because I have seen them get depressed from being removed from their lifelong buddies. I hope this helped. Have lots of fun with your ferret.

Yes they can survive by themselves but they are MUCH more happy when they have a playmate. As you probably already know, they are super playful and ferrets can become lonely, bored, and even depressed if they don't have any companionship. They love to play together, sleep in a clump haha, and share their lives. Definitely look into getting a playmate for your ferret now.

Yes they can live alone if you spend a LOT of time playing with them but ideally should have company.

Sure it's ok, but they do prefer to live with a friend. As long as he has plenty of attention and love he should be fine. :)
