yeah i'd have to agree up to date the most popular and the one u can distinguish from the others is Kelly, honestly i feel that the runner's up turn out to be better singers than the winners. Chris Daughtry Rocks and he wasn't even runner up.

I think Kelly Clarkson is the best american idol and she's the most successful one. But Carrie Underwood is very close behind. I love Kelly Clarkson......<3

As of now Kelly Clarkson is. However, Carrie Underwood's career is starting faster. She could overcome Kelly. A lot will depend on how their next albums pan out.

Kelly Clarkson is the most successful, moneywise, but I think Carrie Underwood is the better of the 2.

i would say carrie underwood.. kelly sold around 8 million albums all together and carrie sond 4 million... and carries only been around a year... and kelly's been around like 5 or 6 years... plus carrie won like 20 awards last year for that one album! ... carrie would defiantley be the more successful!
