If you do not chart or monitor your fertility in any way, and you think you may have conceived, you should wait 19 days (or longer) after having sex to test. Why 19?! Sperm can live approximately 5 days in the proper environment; if the sperm managed to live until you popped an egg, the actual conception could have taken place several days after the sex act that got the sperm there. To make sure you're not testing too early, assume the sperm had very long lives (5 days is considered a very long sperm life) and that conception occurred then. Then allow 14 days for the embryo to implant and develop enough hCG to show up on a pregnancy test (96% of pregnant women will test positive by then.)
I took the brand "Answer" 7 days before my period was due and got a positive.

Ept and Clear Blue Easy are the most accurate, also First Response. It is not too early and if you are pregnant it should show up as positive by this point. If it is negative it may be that you ovulated later and therefore got pregnant later than you calculated. This would mean the your hormone levels are not high enough yet to tell. Take another one, if it is negative retest in another week. If that is still negative contact your obgyn for a blood test if you still have not started. Good luck and God Bless.

Some home pregnancy tests can tell as soon as 3 days after you get pregnant--3-4 weeks is plenty of time. If you got a negative result but still think you might be pregnant, take another one. HPT's are not always correct. The best thing to do is go see your gynocologist.

Well you need to wait until you have missed your period generally speaking, but they have tests out now that will pick up the hormone about 5 days before your missed period. I would say use EPT. Dont use off brands, I have gotten false positives when I wasn't preggo and a negative when I was pregnant from the off brands. Frustrating to say the least.
I'd say wait a few more days and take another one, make sure you do it in the morning because results are more accurate that way...Congrats if you are preggo!

It should have came back positive already, but EPT is suppost to be the best. I had that happen before and I was pregnant. The test showed as negative. The best time too is to do the test first thing in the morning when you wake up. congrats and good luck

No, it shouldn't be too early to test. I used a cheap Equate brand test from Wal-Mart about 2-3 days before my period was due and it came back positive with doctor confirmation the next week.

If you missed your period than you can test and I would use EPT or the store brand compared to EPT.
I used it with all 5 of mine and got results as early as 3 weeks along.
Good Luck and God Bless

EPT has been around the longest. It is what I used when I found out I was preg. with my daughter, who is now 26! It's not too early and it only takes a couple of minutes, compared to the 2 HOURS it took back then. Lots of luck!

There are tests you can take now 5 days before your period is due...I recommend the First Response EARLY test.....it reads very low hcg levels...so this would prob be the best choice..Last week may have been too early, so retest and use first morning urine because it is the most concentrated.....Good Luck!!
Also you can check out www.peeonastick.com they compare pregnancy tests!
