the best time to get pregnant is having sex on exactly your ovulation period, your ovulation happens only once every mentrual cycle, so give at least one day +/- allowance ( one day before and one day after ovulation ) of contact to increase your chances.
how to determine your ovulation period is the big question ? you can always ask the ob gyne for more details, but what i can share with you is this :
your ovulation usually happens during the middle part of your menstrual cycle, assuming you have a regular menstrual cycle of every 28 days, this usually occurs on the 14th day after your first menstrual period. Usually at this point in time , if you are having an ovulation, you would expect some kind of sticky vaginal discharge and your basal temperature would be highest during these period as compared to other days ( i guess there are ovulation kits available in some drugstore ), so the best chance of getting pregnant is having sex during that day, the day before it and the day after.

what is a fact is that if you don't get impregnated on your ovulation period, 14 days after you will have menstration ( this most especially applies if you are on a regular cycle menstruation ), so count back on your calendars your previous menstration and try to predict your next ovulation.

Buy an ovulation predictor kit! That`s what I did, and I had sex when the indicator was dark purple. My hubby and I had sex in the missionary possition, and I sat there for a half an hour. I got preggers twice, and I had the children in the month that I wanted them to be born. It`s weird, but I didn`t want to carry my second child through the summer, I had the child in May, ( right before the summer weather hit)!!!

really just make love with your partner but more importnantly have fun doin it
and then after he comes in you lie on you back with ur legs in the air for at least 20 mins to give the sperm a push in the right direction and nature willtake its course from there

Go on a diet. Sounds odd but I've heard of studies that support that theory. It worked for me 3 times. Remember to have sex as well!

Also heard of using certain positions such as elevating your pelvic upward (legs over shoulders). Worth a try?
