Articles of Confederation?

Question

Hi, I have to write a 2 page essay on this subject, on wh it is important, and what they are...can someone help me out with my reaserch? Tell me all you know about this topic and/or were i can more info on it...THANX

The articles of confederation were the precursor to the current Constitution of the United States. They are similar in many ways, but the Constitution addresses many of the issues that were left out of the Articles. I can't remember all the exact details, but I think that one of the differences is that the Constitution allows for the Government to raise an army and levy taxes whereas the Articles did not allow for this. A good thesis sentence might be something like "The Articles of Confederation formed the basis for the Constitution and the structure of American government, yet were lacking in many areas" then go on to describe these areas. Definitely check my facts, though, because I'm thinking back to government classes I took 5 years ago.
