When Adolph Hitler made a speech, the german nation listened he said
"The broad masses of the people can be moved only by speech. All great movemrnts are popular movements, volcanic eruptions of human passion and sentiments, stirred either by the cruel Goddess of Distress or by the firebrand of the word hurled among the masses"
Hitler was a brilliant orator and never read a prepared speech. He just delivered what he wanted to say. When doing so he totally captured his audience
In another speech he said
"Only constant repetition will finally succeed in imprinting an idea on the memory of the crowd"

The theory of the art of rhetoric is persuasion, meaning influencing people's beliefs, attitudes and conclusions, by logical argument, analogies, examples, common sense, and even some emotionalism and moral philosophy. The usual expression of rhetoric is written essays, or speeches. Customary arenas for expression are debate, forum, news editorials, and political speech.

But differentiate other means of "mind - influencing " prevalent in our culture also, such as advertising, education, religious training, and parental and peer influence, which as a group outweighs any influence that "Rhetoric" has, in my opinion. Most people nowdays do not appreciate or respond to logic, as much as to emotions and morals.
