Are your speakers muted? Is everything corrected correctly (correctly being the operative word)?

If the song is not playing... I am guessing that you see the player has stopped or is not "running" then I would suspect your player software first. This will be the main reason you are not hearing the song. Check to see what format the song is in... then make sure the player supports that format. In certain cases, you may want to get a second player program, since Windows Media Player is full of bugs and is not the best player out there. Only after making sure that the song is "running" and you dont hear anything, then check the actual system volume control and make sure it is up as well as your speaker system volume. You can do that by double clicking the speaker icon that is normally found in the lower right hand corner, near your clock, and going thru the prompts and slider controls there.
Good luck.
PS in the event that you cannot get the song to play still, if it was downloaded, I would suggest you delete and redo the song... you may have a bad file.
Good luck.

Did it ever work? Does *any* sound play, or is it just music files that won't play.
I would check:
1. The volume isn't muted (make sure you check ALL the different volumes, not just the main volume).
2. The sound card drivers are installed properly.
3. Try playing the song with different software.

check your volume control on your desktop.
make sure that none of the options are set on mute.
if it's still not working, maybe there's something wrong with the website's music. if it's not the website, it's probably your speaker. my thoughts are that it's battery probably died.
i suggest you either buy a new battery for it, or you replace it.
there could always be the fact that maybe your speaker is not turned on, but i think that i'm the only one who constantly does that. heehee.
good luck with your speakers!

At the risk of sounding clicheed, check that you have the correct drivers. It is often a problem.
Make sure you have it connected to the right port, putting your speakers into the MIC port won't help.

Hi. Make sure that your cables are connected right first, then go into the volume control "Start> Accessories> Entertainment> Volume control>" to make sure the settings are right and that you have to right device as your sound output. Hope this helps.

Make sure the application you're using doesn't have it's own volume control. If that's the case, make sure it's turned up.
Also, go to your Control Panel and select Sounds and Audio Devices (Windows XP). Make sure that your sounds are turned up in the master volume controls, and such.

There are often three places to check for muting and volume. The one you probably missed is to try checking your system settings here:
Start > ControlPanel > Sounds > Volume

open my computer > right click > look for device manager on the hardware tab > and if there is a Question Mark or Exclamation mark or something were your sound card is, do this, right click and Uninstall it, then restart the computer and it should work. that happens to me every time with my old computer.
