Better Luck Tomorrow
High school Asian American over achievers go wild. Despite being distributed by MTV Films and pushed heavily on its cable network back in 2002, this film just never found its audience. A shame cuz it's one of the best films about teens I've ever seen.
Real Genius
Animal House for nerds. This movie is one of the real sleepers of the 80's. Val Kilmer heads up the cast as party hearty geniuses compete for the favor of their professor who dangles a contract with the military designing a super weapon in front of them.
The Landlord
This 1970 satire is from one of my favorite directors, Hal Ashby. Beau Bridges plays a rich kid who buys a tenement in the ghetto and finds that his tenants come to have a greater effect on him than he would have anticipated. He even goes so far as to develop a romance, outraging his mother. Ashby's style in this film is much like that he would show in Harold and Maude, the cult film that would come out only a year later.

The Last Samurai. That movie was so fantastic. It didn't get half the praise it deserved. Yes, it had Tom Cruise in it, but hey don't hold that against it. It was great.

Boondock Staints, everybody Who I know has seen it, loves it, but most people never heard of it. Heck I usually know of movies, even if I have not seen it, and I didn't know til it was out for four years.

Donnie Darko, mostly that people don't appreciate how much different levels it works on or how it both defines and expands each person's own limitations in the world.

and...
Eragon (⥠Garrett Hedlund)
I probably wouldn't have watched them if they weren't in them; but when I did see them, I was suprised. They're two of my favorite movies.
