A beagle is probably too small to eat a ferret but can definitely hurt the ferret, and actually vice versa. Plz put the ferret in an enclosed large cage and take it out only when the dog is not around or if you are carrying the ferret in your hands.

A beagle? hmm... You have to be really careful owning a ferret if you own a dog that is bred to hunt small game. Its no ones fault...its just that it is in the dogs nature to do it. If you are reallllly serious about owning a ferret I advise you to do as much research on them as possible. If you are still interested after the research that you do then think about picking a room for your ferret to live in. Your bedroom would probably be the best spot, with the door closed to keep the dog out and the ferret in.
Good luck!

It wont do the ferret any harm at all. It shouldnt be a staple diet as its too low protein, but if the ferret eats it on occasion its fine.

Oh boy, Beagles are hunters and trackers and the ferret would be just the thing to chase and shake to death. The ferret might also go for your beagle's throat--they are hunters, too, and have very sharp teeth and strong, expandable jaws. It might be different if they were raised together from a very young age.

how does your dog like cats and rabbits? Does it tolerate them or try to eat them? How is it with people yanking on it's fur all the time?
Ferrets and dogs can get along, but not all dogs.
My aunt's golden retriever male will do nothing to the ferrets- but will tuck his paws underneath him because the ferrets will attack.
If your dog responds to pain by nipping, then he would harm the ferret. If he ignores it or moves away, they may get along

If your dog is aggressive, but you might never know. I have a little chihuhua called Chichi and he's such a sweetheart but last year I bought a parakeet and I guess he got jealous cause one day I returned from work and the cage was knocked down on the floor, feathers everywhere, and chichi was under the couch with my parakeet in his mouth. I was so dissapointed. So I say you don' t get the ferret it's too risky.

The dog might live, the ferret might live. Or they could become buds. Depends on the temperment of the dog. If it was a Doberman or Pit bull, well then bye bye ferret.

It is imaginable that they would get along but not a likely bet. Is there any way your dog could meet a ferret under controlled conditions--like at a Starbucks?

i wouldn't woory to much about the dog hurting the ferret but i would watch them. ferrets have sharp teeth and are good at defending themselves. i have a couple of scars to prove it from breaking up scraps.
