I am sure abortion is a related topic, but will be difficult to put into a paper as far as death and dying goes because of the controversy over wether the fetus knows that it is dying.
(by the way, i do not beleive in abortion)
I have seen many people on their deathbeds. A topic that interests me is how quickly someone will change their attitude towards life when they find out that they have very little time to live. For example.
My uncle who was married to his wife of over 60 years never really treated her with love and respect, even though he said he loved her, he never really showed it. Well, one day she died. He ended up having a broken heart over it, developed some strange illness within the year that she had died.. Her death was making him die a little inside from his guilt of how he had treated her all these years and now that he was alone, he knew where he had gone wrong. He had done family and friends wrong, he done his kids wrong, but mostly his wife.
Well eventually by the end of the year, he ended up very sick the doctor told him he only had 3 days to live. In that 3 days, the man who was an athiest all of his life, started praying and beleiving in God. He changed the way he treated his family and his outlook on life had changed a great deal. But for him, it was too late to make the changes where it really mattered. The man who was destined to die and bitter old angry man, had changed his ways and died peacefully. Before he took his last breath, he stared far off into the distance and reached out his hand into thin air as if he was holding someones hand, then told his wife (who had passed away one year before him) that he was sorry for the way he treated her all these years and that he loved her more than anything. He closed his eyes, took his last breath and that was the end.
Funny thing is that I have seen this happen many times over with people when they are on their death beds and it interests me to know why it happens. Are they really seeing people who have passed on before it is there time to go? Or is it just fear taking over and its a last ditch effort to make it into our so called heaven?
I don't know, i just thought it was an interesting topic

I am a writer for yourhub.c I am writing a story this week (it will be posted Thursday evening) It is called Why we should we cremate the dead. Basically it says that we are not these material bodies, We are eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We never die only the body dies. But if one does not cremate the body the soul hangs around generally for a very long time. People are very attached to their bodies and what ever one is attached to at the time of death they attain. If one is so attached to their own body they remain a ghost hanging around it. If the body is cremated then the soul generally leaves unless they are extremely attached to another person or place. The other thing is if someone commits suicide or dies abruptly by murder or a sudden accident they will stay around. People need to understand the science of the soul and birth. and death. The Bhagavad Gita As it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada has all the answers on this topic. Go to harekrishnatemple.c for more info. You can write me if you want the website for my article. Hope this helps.

what can be more controversial that Euthanasia? You know, the right to request to be put to death (yourself) as in cases of terminally ill patients that cannot take it anymore and wish a doctor would medically end their suffering.
You know it is illegal here in the US but some people believe it should be allowed (I'm not sure, but I think so countries in Europe allow it).
