Legitimate is an adjective which basically says that something conforms to the rules, regulations or guidelines which govern it, whether they be legal or social rules.

An example of a social context: An illegitimate child (more commonly and crudely referred to as a b*stard) is one who is born out of wedlock, breaking traditional religious rules.

....and a legal one: A legitimate reason for carrying a knife would be that you are going fishing.

Do you mean legitimate? if so the definition is - Conforming to recognized principles or accepted rules and standards. If not i have no idea as i can't find that word anywhere :-(

well, I'm not sure about ligitimate, but legitimate means sincere or honest "the real deal"
