My friend and I have this big argument about wheather it's illegal to have the car light on while driving. She says her brother says so, and he's taking drivers ed. Is this a real rule?

It's legal. So is driving thru a gas station at an intersection. No law against it.

In most states, yes. Regardless, the driver should have final say-so as it's their responsibility to not have distractions while driving. Having the overhead light on is totally a distraction, while also limiting your ability to see while driving.

I believe that most states prohibit the operation of a motor vehicle when the interior light is on. I guess the theory is that the glare and reflection on the inside of the windows is dangerous.
