Ok I know this is going to sound strange, but is a relationship with a 53 year old women possilbe for a 27 year old. I recently found out that someone I was just talking to as a friend online would want a relationship with me, the only thing is she is 53.

She has a lot of qualities I like she is very sweet, honest, religous, and has an open heart. The age doesn't really bother me, but is this acceptable?

Can a 53 year old be intimate with a 27 year old man? I need someone who I can be intimate with. At 53 things don't function anymore right?

I want to go on at least a few dates with her regardless, because I do like her and she is very nice too me and it has been a long time since anyone treated me this sweet.

Being a 50 year old woman, I can tell you that all my "things" function just fine. This woman has probably gone through or is going through menopause, so a little extra attention may need to be taken, but other than that, you should have no problem. If it gets to that point.

Go out with her, see what she is like in person and see if she is really this nice sweet person that you have been talking to on the internet. If she is, then continue your relationship and don't worry what other people have to say. She just might teach you a few things too.

I'm not sure why this question is in "Higher Education", but I think that you shouldn't have any problems. Throughout the history of our species good, strong, healthy and positive relationships have been had between two people where the age difference has been greater than 20 years. Intimacy doesn't go away with age by the way (neither does the ability to enjoy life, sexually or any other aspect).

What do you mean, things don't function anymore. That is men that are in their 50's. Women in their 50's function just fine. They still have everything they had when they were younger, only they are maybe a little lower (breast)...lol. My mom and I are very close and she says everything is fine. Also women in their late 40's or early 50's are more like a young man when it comes to sex, according to my mom. So if it's just casual dating you are talking about, I think you two would match up just fine, that's if she looks fairly young for her age. People might think she is your mother or something.

If you like her, then go for it. You can end it if you change your mind. I think that the biggest problem that the two of you might have is that you don't seem to entirely understand women. I am pretty sure that "things still function" at 53!!!

Have fun!

Yes it is possible. If it was reversed no one would ask any questions. Go for it.

Uh, who told you "things don't function any more" at 53? That is silly. If they are healthy people can have sex into their 70s or 80s. 53 is not old at all. She can probably blow your mind.

Ummm ... well menopause usually starts in the late 40;s to early 50's so things might not be the same as if you were to date a 30year old female !!
