It had been 39 days since my last period ( that is the latest I have ever been EVER) and then I started to spot, I immediatly assumed this cycle was a bust but I kept remembering about two pregnancy tests that I had taken before when I first realized I was late that came out rather odd. Both were from a seperate box. When I dropped four drops of urine on the test the pink dye would go across the test like normal and then the control line would be a dark dark pink but the background of the test stayed a pinkish color even after the amount of time told to wait and where the test line was there was a faint faint line. When I started my period of course I was upset but this was a weird period as it only lasted 3 days instead of the normal 5-6 days. I have not taken another test and my doctor won't see me until I am two weeks late for my period. The first two days the flow was normal to that of a normal period for me but the third which is always still heavy was light and tapered off

to a light light spotting and now nothing at all, my cervix during this time was low but very mushy and closed tightly when usually during my period it is low but firm and slightly open all of this just seems a bit off to me so I am not sure what to think. I don't really want to test again in fear of another negative result. What do you think this could be, BTW I am NOT asking you guys to tell me if I am or not pregnant I just want to hear from women who have been in a similar situation and what the outcome of it was.
THANKS ONLY MATURE ANSWERS IF YOU HAVE NOTHING NICE TO SAY PLEASE JUST REFRAIN FROM ANSWERING THE QUESTION
THANKS

The two tests were from Family dollar and the instructions indicate to use four drops of urine. Which I did! NO I don't think it is normal for the background to be pink and/or to remain pink but it did on two different tests. I did not wait past the amount of time told and i didn't removed the test from my bathroom sink from any angle I looked at it I could see the second line and even when I put on the other bath room light I could still see it. I didn't have to hold it up to any lights or anything I could see it plain as day

I am going through the same thing hun, and I am being told I am most likely pregnant... I have an appointment though! I think you should go to a clinic or find another doctor because if you are preggo you need to be seen. I right now have a light period and I got an appointment right away. I wish you the best please try and find a better doctor, some women do have slight bleeding!

It is normal for the background of a pregnancy test to be pink a few minutes afterwards; this isn't indicative of anything. The faint faint line you see could just be an evaporation line, which is very pale and can only be seen in certain lights. But if the line was at all pink, then that would mean that it was a positive test. For more photos of evaporation lines and true positive tests, check out www.peeonastick.com.

Also, I doubt 4 drops of urine is enough. Most tests will tell you to hold the test in the urine stream while you're peeing for several seconds. If you find this difficult, pee into a cup and then put the end of the test in there for several seconds.

The fact that you got your period, even for a few days, probably means you aren't pregnant; but in the odd case, women do get a period even after pregnancy.

What you should do is purchase another test and take it first thing in the morning when hormone levels are most concentrated. Also, ensure it gets fully saturated in urine. That should give you your answer.

I have had the thing happen to me before where the background stays pink for some reason. I was not pregnant and the pink cleared after a while (like 20 minutes and there was an evaporation line) It is weird. The fact that you had a weird period this month would indicate to e that something may be going on in there. I would have suggested a blood test but since you dr won't see you until two weeks late I would do an early test like Early response using first morning urine. (BTW...why wont your dr see you? Are you set on this dr? If my dr refused to see me I would be getting a new dr. If I need to be seen then I need to be seen) Anyway, I wouldn't give up hope yet for this month and I hope you get your positive. Good Luck!!

Since being on this site I have seen alot of women say they have gotten light periods and were still pregnant....Maybe this is your case as well...I would say take another HPT and see what the results are.....If not wait for the Dr. appt and have them do a blood test....It still may be a possiblity of pregnancy.....Good Luck!

I think if you have had a period, you are not pregnant.
Sounds like you may have been though.
Sorry. I started writing a long, lengthy answer, but I think this is the short version of saying the same thing.
