On the show Heroes, I know that Mohinder's dad met sylar and then told him that he had some power, but then he left saying that he didnt have them. and i know that sylar got furious. did he train himself to have powers? or did he have powers all along?
and also, can sylar like figure what part of the brain the powers of others' recide and take them? cause i know that he does later on have his victims' powers.

He figures out how things work... and which was harmless when he was repairing watches... but when he realized that not only could he could figure out how people with powers worked by opening up their brains he could take on their powers... he became a power mad mass murderer.
Peter seems to have a similar ability to take on the powers of others but he doesn't need to "see how it works" (as Sylar said last week as he began to slice Peter's forehead) his ability is more emotional... Peter just remembers the person and their power comes to him.

If you ever noticed, all the people whose powers he gets have missing brains.......I think he eats the brain to get the power. Whereas Peter can absorb others' powers by touch, Sylar gets his through evil ways.

sylar can figure out how things work, like how they can use their powers or how a watch works (which was why he was so good at fixing them). he then opens up their head and takes that part of their brain and gives it to himself. he can then use the power that he took which is why he has telekineses.

he has the ability to understand things and then fix them. He opens people's heads to see how this works and then modifies himself to duplicate that power. His power is not the same as Peter's where he draws the power from the person using his mind. Both powers are empathic, though

I'm not sure what his is exactly but it must have something to do with Telekinesis or something because he turned off his IV thing when Mohinder had drugged him and he was throwing lockers at Peter...

he began being smart, then i guess he took people's brain and put it in his brain. his power is just really taking other's powers and being really sneaky.
