Maybe they're not supposed to, but honestly who's to stop them? I have friends that work at Best Buy and they tell me all the time about weird stuff they find on people's computers. I think if they find anything illegal they may be obligated to report it.

they can look, but they won't know if they're stolen or not. If you legally own the dvd, you're allowed to copy them for your personal use. It's called "fair use". Getting around the copy protection is the illegal part.
Besides, I don't think apple wants to risk losing a customer by reporting someone who only has a few movies on their computer.

What is the laptop going in for repair for?Does it have a password? If you get the laptop back and they've changed the password it's possible ,but i would think they have better things to do then go snooping around your computer and if they did discover something it would be by mistake.

If your that worried about your files, why don't you clone the Macs HD to an external drive and wipe the HD with Disk Utility and when you get your laptop back, you can then clone the external back to your Mac.

They CAN look through your files but my guess is they won't. Ripping your own files is legal if it's only for your own personal use.

Sounds like you got some porn on there that you worried about. Nothing illegal about that. Unless you have child porn. If that's the case then you should be thrown in jail.
