What is usually the time limit to when they stop supporting a older version?

Thanks.

I have used Norton for years. They will continue to send updates to you for one year. After that they won't send you any new protection updates.
Just update once a year and you will be fine. It might be a good idea to go to their site occasionally and check their download section. Just in case you missed something.

You could email norton and ask them, I used Norton AV 2004 a few months ago, it seemed to be working fine

I don't think they stop supporting it. they might advice you or intice you to buy a newer version with specials or stuff like that. I have mine 2006 and its working great and planning to keep it. I like this version is very harsh on trojans. I have temporarily used it on other pcs to clean them and detects them right away. and neutralizes them without any traces left

You would be better off if you got a free scanner like AVG, Avast, or Clamwin.

NAV sucks and blows. when it comes to providing security.

If you want to go commercial I would recommend Kaspersky, or PC-cillin from Trend Micro
