I'm not that good at reading (barely got a 640 on the Critical Reading section on the SAT). I'm very good at vocabulary though.

I'm very good at writing (not to boast), and I'm very good at spelling and vocabulary.

It's just reading...I feel that because of my SAT score that I'm not a good reader. I haven't had time to really have time to read.

I know this will sound bad, but I usually read the Sparknotes, and somehow manage to be able to participate in class, and still get a stellar grade on the essays/papers.

Lots of reading and writing, and more as you get into your major classes exclusively. When you take lit classes, you can expect to be reading AT LEAST 50 pages between class periods, usually more. The schedules for reading and papers are very aggressive. Most of my classes had about 5-6 papers a semester as well. Keep in mind that this is all times 3 or 4 ENglish classes you're taking.

English majors have a lot of reading and writing to do. Then comes the opinions and critical thinking.

They focus on writing skills, communication, and never ever miss spell anything!

To be an english major its best to be an avid reader and be well rounded. Always voice your opinion and relate to real events and other works.

When you're an English major, you end up reading a novel or two A WEEK. If you're not up to par with reading, I don't think and English major is a good idea
