Everytime I'm on here, there are people asking ridiculous questions, and other people taking them far too seriously. I don't get it. Can't you people just be honest instead of tring to be helpful?

That's Yahoo Answers for you .. the do-gooders of the world! Not to mention gullible too!
They take it so seriously because they are addicted!! Next time you get one of those really serious answers, look at what level they are on, most likely 4 or 5.

Hey, there's nothing like a good sincere talk. Say u tried everything but u couldnt get what u are looking for then why nt try yahoo answers. If u might have checked yahoo answers several times n found people who arent doing a good job or simply who's mentalities dont meet urs then maybe its time u changed the thread of answers u usually dig in. If u dnt think so try to pitch in by asking a question u believe is worth thinking about. How about that? This way u'll get people to think & u'll think about how u've done in ur contribution. Uhh...being honest IS being helpful where I come from.
What's the alternative? Just BS everyone 24-7?
I used to work with a guy like that; he got fired. But he just got on your nerves because most of the time, you couldn't tell whether his responses were sincere or BS.
90% of the time, I attempt to find what I think are legitimate questions and I offer honest answers. The other 10% of the time, I'll entertain myself with generic nonsense.

Why not? Isn't it supposed to be? Aren't the people answering seriously right and not the people answering ridiculously?
What is wrong with this world? You do something right and you are in the wrong?
Try other forums. or try another world or dimension. or try the after life.

I guess it depends on the person. If someone wants to asked silly questions, let them. Most times, most people do have some legit questions. I like to give useful answers when I can.

It gives people a sense of connection. They feel good about themselves when they get picked for Best Answer. Some people are too lazy to look things up themselves.

is being helpul conflicting with being honest?
I try to answerr legit questions the best I can :) always honestly- and as helpful as I can.
and laugh with the funnier ones :)
