I doesn't hurt that bad getting it pierced, but it may be painful after wards. I had a problem with my hair getting caught on the earring, then it would get irritated and start hurting.

You bet it does. I'm no wimp, I did have my navel pierced and didn't feel that. I have accupncture once a week, so certainly don't have a fear of needles. Also, I have a degenerative disease and have had more surgery than you want to count and live with a spine that is totally compressed, so when I say it hurt, it hurt. It also took forever to heal, well I can actually say that it has taken forever, as I had it done 14 years ago and I still have problems with it. I can't leave a ring out for more than a day or two or I have problems getting the ring back in and get an infection that I have to deal with.
But, if you asked me would I do it again, I hate to say this, but, yes.
So, take that from where it comes. I'm glad I did it, but it's a pain in the ***. (or ear)

Yes. If you get it done make sure not to let anything touch it(hair, fingers), that makes it hurt even more. And have fun sleeping the night you get it pierced.

Yes, but not as badly as getting your earlobes pierced.

Cartilage, on the other hand, is much more easily infected. So if you're thinking about doing it at home, I'd highly suggest that you rethink that decision.

It does, and it does even more if it gets infected. Which it's likely to do.
